Menyra praktike e orientimit ishte\u00a0e thjeshte: ne te djathte dhe ne te majte te\u00a0bashit (pjesa e perparme e anijes), ne filin e\u00a0mjetit te lundrimit, vinin shenja konvencionale\u00a0qe i pergjigjeshin nje skeleje te caktuar.\u00a0Detari i cili qendronte ne kic (pjese e prapme\u00a0e anijes) te mjetit lundrues, mbante ne nje\u00a0vije te drejte (aliniament) shikimin e tij ne\u00a0shenjen konvencionale dhe ne shenjen qiellore\u00a0gjate gjithe udhetimit te tij, keshtu delte\u00a0ne skelen e deshirueshme.\u00a0Me keto mjete dhe metoda fillestare lundrimi,\u00a0te cilat mbeten deri ne kohet e vona, iliret\u00a0e vjeter filluan jeten e tyre detare, te cilen me\u00a0vone e zhvilluan ne nje shkalle shume me te\u00a0larte.\u00a0Rritja e mjeteve te lundrimit u be e mundshme\u00a0ne saje te perdorimit te metodes se\u00a0ndertimit te anijeve me veshje te trupit te\u00a0tyre nga jashte me majere druri (derrasa).<br \/>\nKete metode iliret e perdoren qe ne fillimin e\u00a0mijevjecarit te fundit te kohes se lashte.\u00a0Nga fiset ilire me te permendur per veprimtarine\u00a0e tyre detare qene Japodet, te cilet\u00a0pervec skelave detare qe kishin krijuar ne\u00a0bregdetin lindor te Adriatikut, kishin krijuar\u00a0edhe baza te tjera ne bregun perendimor si\u00a0ne Apuli dhe ne bregdetin qendror te Italise,\u00a0duke mbajtur gjithmone lidhje te ngusht\u00a0ndermjet ketyre brigjeve.\u00a0Me vone vendin e Japodeve e zuri fisi tjeter\u00a0ilir \u2013 i Liburneve, qe u be i degjuar ne popujt\u00a0e lashte persa i perket lundrimit detar. Mjeti\u00a0i lundrimit i cili qe krijuar dhe pedorej prej\u00a0tyre quhej \u201cliburnide\u201d. Liburnidet ose liburnet\u00a0ishin mjete lundrimi te nje madhesie\u00a0mesatare per ate kohe, te gjata dhe te holla,\u00a0te mprehta ne pjesen e perparme dhe te\u00a0prapme te tyre. Struktura e tyre u jepte shpejtesi\u00a0ne lundrim e lehtesi ne drejtim, vecanerisht,\u00a0per arsye se u mungonte edhe timoni,\u00a0qe nuk e njihnin.\u00a0Me keto mjete, liburnet lundronin gjate\u00a0gjithe Adriatikut dhe Jonianit ashtu si dhe\u00a0pasardhesit e tyre te larget, ulqinaket. Ne\u00a0kete menyre gjate brigjeve te Adriatikut\u00a0lulezuan skela ilire me popullsi prej fisi liburn.\u00a0Veprimtaria detare e liburneve shtrihej\u00a0ne transportin tregtar, ne peshkim dhe ne\u00a0luftera per detin.\u00a0Ne vitin 734 para eres se re, greket pushtuan\u00a0Korfuin dhe ne kete menyre hapen dyert e Adriatikut. Ky ishte hapi i pare per te filluar\u00a0krijimin e nje vargu kolonish greke ne Adriatik.\u00a0Ne kete kohe fillon ndikimi i dukshem ne\u00a0menyrat e ndertimit te anijeve. Kaq eshte e\u00a0vertete kjo sa qe greket filluan te perdorin \u201cliburnidet\u201d\u00a0ilire dhe anasjelltas iliret filluan te\u00a0fusin ne perdorim \u201ctrirremeshet\u201d, greke.\u00a0Pas Liburneve, fiset ilire qe u daluan per veprimtari\u00a0detare, ishin Ardianet dhe Daorset.\u00a0Ne shekullin III, Ardianet krijuan shtetin e\u00a0tyre me qender Rizonin ne Gryken e Kotorrit.\u00a0Keta u bene nje fuqi e madhe detare. Per\u00a0kete shkak filluan te ashpersohen kontradiktat\u00a0ne mes te tyre dhe grekeve. Ardianet u\u00a0detyruan te shperngulin qendren e tyre nga\u00a0Kotorri per ne Shkoder dhe ne liqenin e saj\u00a0ndertuan kantiere anijesh, prej nga here pas\u00a0here dilnin ne det anije te reja, te medha dhe\u00a0te fuqishme.\u00a0Mjetet e lundrimit qe perdornin Ardianet\u00a0quheshin \u201clembe\u201d. Keto lembe kishin shume\u00a0lidhje me liburnidet e koheve me te lashtea\u00a0dhe paraqiten si forma pasardhese e tyre me\u00a0e zhvilluar. Lembet ishin te hapeta (pa kuverta),\u00a0me bash te gjate dhe te mprehte dhe\u00a0drejtoheshin me anen e timonit, me nje dhe\u00a0dy sere rremash. Nje lembe mesatare mund\u00a0te transportonte rreth 50 veta.\u00a0Flota ilire ne kohen e mbreterve Agron, Teuta,\u00a0Genc etj. goditi kolonite greke te bregdetit,\u00a0pushtoi Korfuzin, sulmoi Etoline, Akarnanine,\u00a0brigjet e Elides, Mesines etj. ne kete\u00a0menyre i gjithe bregdeti lindor i Adriatikut\u00a0ishte ne duart e ilireve, me perjashtim te Durresit\u00a0dhe Apolonise, qe ndodheshin akoma\u00a0nen zoterimin e grekeve. Iliret moren perseri\u00a0pozitat e vjetra dhe e rriten autoritetin e tyre\u00a0ne Adriatik. Gjate Mesjetes, detaria mori nje\u00a0zhvillim te theksuar gjate bregdetit te Ulqinit\u00a0e deri ne Vlore. U ngriten kantiere detare\u00a0ne te cilat ndertoheshin anije te medha qe\u00a0shiteshin edhe jashte Ulqinit.\u00a0Gjate Mesjetes, ne rolin udheheqes ne jeten\u00a0detare ne Adriatik doli Republika e Venedikut,\u00a0e cila ne vitin 1204 zoteronte ne kete det\u00a0dhe e quante me mburrje \u201cLiqeni Venecian\u201d.\u00a0Republika e Venedikut ne Mesjete u fuqizua\u00a0me elemente nga bregdeti shqiptar. Karvane\u00a0barkash eksportonin gjate shekujve lende\u00a0druri nga bregu shqiptar ne Venedik. Ne Ulqin\u00a0kohe pas kohe lulezoi kantieri vendas, ku\u00a0u ndertuan anije per Republiken e Venedikut.\u00a0Venediku mori per floten e tij detare te\u00a0shquar nga Ulqini. Nga llojet e ndryshme te\u00a0anijeve venedikase permenden shpesh anije\u00a0me emrat \u201cGriv\u201d, \u201cGriba\u201d, \u201cKripa\u201d, Kripina\u201d, te\u00a0cilat duket se ishin anije te nje tipi me ato te\u00a0bregut shqiptar dhe qe i perdoreshin kryesisht\u00a0per transportimin e kripes. Tipi tjeter\u00a0me emer \u201cBrigantina\u201d, ka te ngjare te jete nga\u00a0brigjet shqiptare dhe te kete hyre ne perdorim\u00a0te flotes venedikase.\u00a0Ne vitin 1368, pas kater vjetesh, Gjergj Balsha,\u00a0qe kishte nen pushtetin e tij Shkodren,\u00a0Ulqinin, Tivarin etj., synonte te formonte\u00a0nje flote detare luftarake dhe po ne kete\u00a0vit leshoi ne det disa gala te armatosura.\u00a0Venediku dergoi mjete per te djegur anijet\u00a0e Balshes. Nderkaq u arrit nje marreveshje\u00a0nga te dy palet, sipas te ciles, Venediku i lejoi\u00a0Balshes mbajtjen e nje numri te kufizuar\u00a0anijesh luftarake. Megjithate, Gjergj Balsha e\u00a0shpejtoi ritmin e ndertimit te anijeve te reja.\u00a0Venediku e kuptoi kete gje dhe dergoi kapitenin\u00a0e saj me urdher \u201c&#8230; po te mos e ndalte\u00a0veprimin do te konsiderohej si pirat deti dhe\u00a0anijet e tij do te digjeshin\u201d.\u00a0Ne kete kohe, po keshtu, Karl Topia, ne Durres,\u00a0vendosi te krijoje nje flote luftarake te tijen.\u00a0Per kete, Venediku, ne vitin 1368 i dergoi\u00a0nje proteste \u201cJemi informuar se keni leshuar\u00a0ne det disa anije te armatosura.
