{"id":87302,"date":"2014-12-28T11:36:16","date_gmt":"2014-12-28T10:36:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.visit-ulcinj.com\/blog\/?p=87302"},"modified":"2014-12-28T11:36:16","modified_gmt":"2014-12-28T10:36:16","slug":"ulcinj-promotion-voluntary-blood-donation-montenegro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.visit-ulcinj.com\/blog\/2014\/12\/28\/ulcinj-promotion-voluntary-blood-donation-montenegro\/","title":{"rendered":"Ulcinj: Promotion of voluntary blood donation in Montenegro"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.visit-ulcinj.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Safet-Beci.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-87303 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.visit-ulcinj.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Safet-Beci-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"Safet-Beci\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.visit-ulcinj.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Safet-Beci-300x240.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.visit-ulcinj.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Safet-Beci.jpg 424w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>On 10\u00a0 Decenber 2014, the WHO Country Office in Montenegro, the Blood Institute of Montenegro and Municipality of Ucinj organized a joint event on the role of local self-government in the promotion of voluntary blood donation in Montenegro, as a part of the voluntary blood donation campaign in Montenegro carried out within the European Union (EU)\/IPA project \u201cImplementation of the European Blood Transfusion System in Montenegro\u201d financed by the European Union and implemented by WHO\/ Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The vice president of Ulcinj municipality, Mr Safet Beci, expressed gratitude to all those who donated blood in Ulcinj during the blood drive held that day, noting that they serve as an example of kindness and solidarity.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Gordana Rasovic, Director of the Blood Institute of Montenegro, emphasized that the intense work on health education and awareness raising on voluntary blood donation is of extreme significance since the level of voluntary blood donation response in Montenegro is lower than the percentage recommended by WHO.\u00a0 She congratulated the representatives of Ulcinj municipality for successful organization of the voluntary blood donation activity, which gathered 30 blood donors with the support of local blood donation clubs from Bar, Podgorica and Budva.<\/p>\n<p>Miss Mina Brajovic, Head of the WHO Country Office in Montenegro pointed out that every fourth citizen of Montenegro requires blood at least once in their lifetime.\u00a0 \u201cVoluntary blood donation is a responsibility of a whole society and each individual.
