Montenegro Ministry of Tourism announced today that every vehicle entering Montenegro will pay an ‘eco tax’ of 10 euros. The vehicle will get a sticker that is good for 1 year.
Deputy Director of the Montenegro National Tourist Organization, Maja Lijesevik, said last year Montenegro recorded a record of 1.1 million tourists. 37% of the tourists came from Serbia, 26% from the EU, 12% from Russia, and 11% from Macedonia, Slovenia, Romania.
Montenegro has gained wild popularity after scene of James Bond’s Casino Royal was filmed there, exposing Montenegro’s hidden beauty (not anymore) to westerns.
At the moment real estate on Montenegro’s coast fetch surreal prices, not recorded anywhere in the Balkans. Square meter goes upwards to 15,000 euros, and this is in less lucrative areas. Russian Oligarchs, so far, had spent over 250 million euros on real estate on Montenegro’s coast.
