Montenegro aims to attract more visitors
Montenegro’s government is actively aiming to encourage more holidaymakers to visit the country, a media outlet has said.
According to Business Week, the eastern European nation offers many places of outstanding natural beauty.
The news provider said the government wants to capitalise on this by developing its tourist industry, as this could help boost the country’s economy.
Specifically, it stated that that an influx of visitors could trigger the creation of new jobs and attract more foreign investors.
Business Week commented: “Government officials hope this development eventually jettisons a humbling distinction for Montenegro – the poorest region in the former Yugoslavia.”
The publication added that last year, the number of foreign arrivals in Montenegro went up by nearly 19%, while gross domestic product increased by 7%.
This comes after independent analysts at Amberlamb said the nation’s holiday industry is currently “booming and thriving”.
