Montenegro, Albania boost cooperation against human trafficking

Elona Gjebrea Hoxha dhe Zoran UlamaTIRANA, Dec. 8 (Xinhua) — Albania and Montenegro signed on Monday an additional protocol on the intensification of cooperation in the fight against human trafficking and for supporting the possible victims of trafficking.

Albanian Deputy Minister of Interior Elona Gjebrea and the Head of the Montenegrin Office for Fight against Trafficking in Human Beings Zoran Ulama signed the additional protocol in Tirana.

Gjebrea said that the agreement was reached in the frame of the mutual commitment of Albania and Montenegro in the fight against organized crime and human exploitation. She added that both sides now can exchange information on the cases of forced labor, slavery and trafficking of children and women.

“This additional protocol completes the agreement signed between the Albanian Council of Ministers and the Montenegrin government. It is going to provide regular exchange of information that will help to prevent criminal acts related to human trafficking,” Gjebrea declared.

She also highlighted that special attention will be paid to the cases of children or women.
