Të dielën e 23 majit, në 14 komunat e Malit e Zi mbahen zgjedhjet lokale, ku në historinë 20-vjeçare të pluralizmit në këtë vend, asnjëherë nuk ka pasur më shumë shqiptarë në lista që garojnë brenda tyre, në Ulqin e Malësi.
Fushatën elektorale e ka karakterizuar një retorikë e ashpër, në Ulqin edhe në Tuz të Malësisë, midis partive nacionale shqiptare dhe koalicionit të Unionit Demokratik të Shqiptarëve të Ferhat Dinoshës dhe Partisë Demokratike të Socialistëve të Milo Gjukanoviqit.
